“A phenomenal spring release that I don’t think got it’s due, probably because black metal fans are all cowards afraid of audible bass and Dense Riffs. Expertly crafted melodic raw black metal. Precise application of dissonance lends a delightful uncanniness to these jams. 4 lovers ov black metal that Riffs.”

“Of all the shadowy solo black metal projects out there, this one ranks as a consistent favorite. Breaking the mold by noticeable use of the bass and strong psychedelic tendencies, this one has been on my radar for most of the year.”

“Distant screams filter into Remind Us of the Sun like rays of sun passing through decrepit stained glass, adding an ambient terror to the malevolent riffs within.”
- Invisible Oranges
“When black metal is called a “ritual” or “ceremony” it should sound like Remind Us of the Sun. These are weirding incantations echoing through a peat bog from some lonesome tower. An unnatural thrumming as a one-eyed druid whispers into a doe’s skull and cloaks the moors in an unnatural mist. Grandiose and gothic guitar n’ bass melodies enrapture you before you realize something is a wee bit off. All is not as it seems. This place is not a place of honor. No highly esteemed deed is commemorated here. The slavering old evil that emerged from below the cairn drags you into the loamy, humid darkness as you marvel at the thick and luscious bass tone.”

"n case you missed it - 'Remind Us Of The Sun', the subversive debut album of US solo black metal prospect Glyph, is quite good. Why subversive? Because it artfully takes the established norms of black metal and bends them juuuust enough to let you feel an unfamiliar and unique magic taking place; but not so far that the boundaries are broken entirely. Elements of raw, atmospheric, post depressive black metal make up a large howling portion of this intoxicating concoction, but amidst that are swirls of shimmering oddities like - well, 50% of the riffs in 'Lost Beyond Time' for example, which almost sound like spooky variations on spy movie themes. Sound weird? Just listen at the links below and you'll see. Superbly done stuff (with killer basslines, check the punky 'Await With Dread' for a favourite) that blends the sinister with... something else."

"The new Glyph album is a revelation of inventive, dynamic post-black experimental metal, that follows a coherent psychedelic logic, combining disparate styles and ideas into one singular visionary entity blasting down a seamless, twisting path of excellence."
- Order ov the Black Arts
"Dark and gothic atmosphere creates for a great theme in the album, and luckily the song writing is there to back it up. The melodic flow between the more mid-paced and the faster blast beat sections are done very well and sound like natural transitions rather than just a brutal assault all the way through. In fact the album as a whole is extremely melodic, letting room for the guitars and bass to really play around and create some rather memorable moments on the album."

"It is so courageously unique. This release really deserves more busy praise." 83/100
- Madman Reviews
"This project so far has always managed to create some music that does not exactly defy the black metal rules, but does bend them quite a bit. Here happens once again, you have a whole record where the bass leads the melody gracefully, with the guitar also laying some pretty nice riffs. This shared stage is incredibly well done as the clever songwriting is unravelled throughout the record with plenty of catchy moments."

“Remind Us of the Sun,” is an album that does stay true to what black metal fans have come to expect from artists who play this style of music, however, I find when listening closely that Glyph has a tremendous amount of potential that will hopefully be utilized on future releases. I look forward to what Glyph has to offer in the future, although I highly recommend people check out, "Remind Us of the Sun," as this type of music definitely captures the unforgiving and sinister essence of black metal.”
